The Nimitz Band Shirt features a distinctive design created for the Nimitz High School band. This black tee displays "THE TRIAL" at the top, above a graphic of a figure bound to a stake with fire behind it. This imagery was developed to align with the band's UIL-approved "The Crucible" performance theme, referencing elements from Salem and historical stake imagery.
The design garnered public attention. On September 18, 2026, the Houston Chronicle reported Aldine ISD ceased distribution and requested students return the shirts. This followed concerns from parents, students, and activists, including Quanell X and Dr. Candice Matthews, who interpreted the graphic as lynching imagery rather than an Arthur Miller reference. The district attributed the design and printing to an external vendor, initiating a review of its merchandise approval procedures. This tee is printed on soft cotton with a unisex fit, available in sizes S-4XL, and made on demand.
“Exactly like the photo — the print is crisp and the fabric is genuinely soft.”
